When Merkur introduced the Progress back in the mid to late 1950's, they offered a variety of models.
This was the 500 and it still carries that same model number today. The only difference in those vintages and today was in the adjuster dial. The adjuster knobs and dials of today are mostly zamak with "just the knob" in plastic whereas back then most of the unit was Pollopas. They of course started at "0", whereas today they start at "1". The rest of the razor is the same.
There were changes in the wording of the bottom plate with the breaking up of Germany and some cosmetic changes - but other then that its the same razor.
It's the longest running Adjustable razor.
